Life is a Continuous Learning Experience

Life is a continuous learning experience. Throughout our lives, we keep rising and falling, picking up important lessons along the way. Furthermore, there are many life lessons that we simply cannot learn until we face certain situations in our life. Most people would say that there are some lessons that come too late, catching us off guard and unprepared. Often life lessons are learned long after we need them.

The good news is other people can benefit from our experiences and the lessons we’ve learned. Here are some important life lessons I have learned the hard way:

  • I’ve learned a lot of times we get so focused on our big dreams and goals that we forget to enjoy this journey called life. Remember, it’s the small daily happenings that make life so spectacular. Life is all about the journey and less about the destination.
  • I’ve learned I fail to act due to lack of confidence or courage. Whenever it’s time to act, take action. The journey of success always begins with the small step of taking a chance.
  • I’ve learned that planning to get even with someone means letting that person continue to hurt you. Forgiveness is a gift we give to ourselves, to be at peace, to be happy, and to be able to sleep at night… only by giving up on resentment will you be happy.
  • I’ve learned the more I express my gratitude, the more things I have to be grateful for.
  • I’ve learned that making a living is not the same thing as making a life.
  • I’ve learned that if you pursue happiness, it will elude you. Happiness comes through doors you didn’t even know you left open. So if you focus on your family, your friends, the needs of others, your work, and doing the very best you can, happiness will find you.
  • I’ve learned that whenever I decide something with an open heart, I usually make the right decision—and a smile is an inexpensive way for me to improve my appearance.
  • I’ve learned that while I am only one person in the world, I may also be the world to one person. So every day I try to reach out and touch someone. People need a hand to hold, a heart to understand, a warm hug, or just a friendly pat on the back.
  • I’ve learned that even when I have pains, I don’t have to be one! Being kind is more important than being right. People will never forget how you made them feel.
  • I’ve learned not to cry because it is over but to smile because it happened. No matter how bad it seems, life does go on and will be better. Love, not time, heals all wounds.
  • I’ve learned a good reputation is more valuable than money. Reputation is built on the foundation of character; it entails the words I speak and the actions I take. If I take care of my character above all other things, my reputation will take care of itself.
  • I’ve learned that I can always pray for someone when I don’t know what else to do.
