For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind (2 Timothy 1:7 NKJV)
Fear is faith in the enemy of our souls. God is love and all about freedom. Fear is all about control. Fear is satan’s weapon of mass destruction. Our world is consumed with fear today over the coronavirus. It is a valid threat not only to the health of people, but to their livelihoods as well.
God is our shield and protector. That does not mean that we won’t catch the virus, or that we won’t suffer in other ways. But God will never leave us nor forsake us. He will see us through this. For those of us who have Jesus living His life in us, through us, for us, and as us, we have eternal life… His life. Though we die, yet shall we live forever with Him.
I cannot imagine what people who don’t have Jesus as their life are experiencing right now. Fear, panic, despair, hopelessness. But God says that all things work together for the good of those who love and trust Him and are called according to His purpose.
What is God’s purpose for us? Every person on the planet has the same purpose: (1) To live in total dependence upon the Lord. (2) To live in intimate relationship with Him. If this coronavirus is able to bring us back to the Lord so that we trust Him totally and live in total dependence upon Him, this it is a good thing.
There are two types of fear: healthy fear and toxic fear.
If you run up on a bear in the woods, healthy fear will get you to run away real fast. But toxic fear can kill you with a heart attack if that bear is just a statue. The problem with this coronavirus is that we know so little about it. The world has never faced this type of virus and the lack of knowledge about it has kindled the fire of fear across the planet. That is why I’m am passing along to you some of the most reliable info about it and how to slow down the spread of it. We must all do our part even though we may not like it, or think it is necessary. We have some hard times ahead of us, but God will see us through. He has done it before, and He will do it now. Trust Him.
Here is the information I promised. Be safe and keep believing.
This is a message from Susan, one our church family.
My nephew, who is also a lung specialist now, graduated with a master’s degree, and works in Shenzhen Hospital, China. He is being transferred to study Wuhan pneumonia virus. He just called me and told me to tell all of my friends NOT TO WORRY SO MUCH ABOUT CORONA VIRUS.
If you have a runny nose and sputum when you have a cold, you cannot be a patient of coronavirus pneumonia, because coronavirus pneumonia is a dry cough without runny nose. This is the simplest way to identify.
Please tell your friends that if you know more about medical knowledge about this virus, you will have more awareness of identification and prevention.
This time, the Wuhan virus is not heat-resistant and will be killed at a temperature of 86 to 95 degrees Fahrenheit.
Therefore, drink more hot water. You can tell your friends and relatives to drink more hot water to prevent it. Go under the Sun for a long time. It has been cold season recently, and drinking hot water is also very comfortable. It is not a cure but is a good prevention for the body. Drinking warm water is effective for mostly all viruses. Try not to drink ice water. Remember that.
Doctor’s advice about coronavirus:
1. It is pretty large in size (cell is about 400-500nm diameter), so any normal mask (not just the N95 feature) should be able to filter it out. However, when someone who’s infected sneezes in front of you, it will take a great 3 meters (about 10 feet) before it drops to the ground and is no longer airborne.
2. When the virus drops on metal surface, it will live for at least 12 hours. So remember if you come in contact with any metal surface, wash your hands with soap thoroughly. Don’t depend on the sanitizers.
3. The virus can remain active on fabric for 6-12 hours. Normal laundry detergent should kill the virus. For winter clothing that does not require daily washing, you can put it out under the sun for 4 hours to kill the virus.
About the symptoms of the pneumonia caused by Coronavirus:
1. It will first infect the throat, so the throat will have the dry sore throat feeling which will last for 3 to 4 days
2. Then the virus will blend into the nasal fluid and drip into the trachea and enter the lungs, causing pneumonia. This process will take 5 to 6 days.
3. With pneumonia, comes high fever and difficulty in breathing. The nasal congestion is not like the normal kind. You will feel like you are drowning in water. It’s important to seek immediate medical attention if you feel like this.
About prevention:
1. The most common way of getting infected is by touching things in public, so you must wash your hands frequently. The virus can only live on your hands for 5-10 minutes, but a lot of damage can happen in those 5-10 mins (you may rub your eyes or pick your nose unwittingly).
2. Aside from washing your hands frequently, you can gargle with Betadine Sore Throat Gargle to eliminate or minimize the germs while they are still in your throat (before dripping down to your lungs).
Folks, take extra care and drink plenty of water.

Here is an excerpt about how to save lives in the days ahead.
Mitigation measures for COVID-19
Support your schools’ decisions to close: Proactive school closings save more lives than reactive school closings. Your schools should close now … before infections are present. Closed schools do not mean playdates for children – this counteracts the social distancing the school closures are meant to create in the first place.
6 feet: The COVID-19 virus spreads through droplets. They can move 6 feet before gravity brings them to earth. Stay 6 feet away from people if you need to go outside.
Meticulous hand washing: Wash thoroughly and wash often. Alcohol-based hand sanitizer works well if your hands are otherwise clean. Do not touch your face. This is hard. This is a learned skill: Practice often.
Clean doorknobs, toilets, cellphones, countertops, refrigerator handles, and so on many times each day. The virus could live on certain surfaces for 4-72 hours.
If you can work from home, work from home.
No tournaments, no sports events, no soccer, baseball, dance, volleyball, softball, gymnastics, concerts, martial arts, etc. We don’t care how much they claim they will clean the equipment.
Cancel vacation travel. We know you planned this for a long time. You will be saving many lives by doing so … perhaps someone you know.
Cancel weddings/ bar/bat mitzvahs, birthday parties, and so on. Help other people live so they can celebrate future events too.
If you are over 60 years old, you should stay home. You should only go out if there is a critical need.
If you have parents/grandparents in a nursing home, you should consider moving them home for now.
Do not congregate in a restaurant, bar, etc. Again, you will save the lives of people you will never meet.
If you feel sick, stay home. It doesn’t matter if you don’t feel too sick. Going to work will put countless other people at risk of suffering or dying.
Cancel all business travel. Your life and the lives of others are more important.
Expect supply chain issues: Work with your doctor to try to get a three month supply of medication.
Many grocery stores have order ahead options with either pick up or delivery. There are online grocery delivery services available in many areas. Wash your hands thoroughly after unpacking groceries.
The Bible says: “It came to pass.” The coronavirus did not come to stay like everything else in life. This, too, will pass. Trust the Lord. Pray hard. Follow the guidelines. Be safe.
Blessings,
Kenny
