There’s Got to be a Morning After

I went out with the dogs this morning. The sky was a magnificent blue. The wind was a mere whisper. A married couple of cardinals was eating leisurely at the feeder. Persistent squirrels continued their assault of my ‘squirrel proof’ feeder. My dwindling flock of hummingbirds was grabbing their last sip of nectar before taking their southward journey for the winter. It was so peaceful. The beauty of the day much more lovely and appreciated after Florence’s ugly visit.

We had a foot of rain and minimal tree damage unlike our friends along the coast. Florence was mean, but she could have been a real monster had the Lord not toned her down before landfall. Authorities did such a good job preparing and evacuating people prior to her arrival that casualties and property damage were reduced dramatically.

Jesus didn’t pull any punches with us. He said that in this world there would be trials and tribulations. He also told us not to fear. He said that He had overcome the world. He is an overcomer and so are we because we are ONE with Him. We are united, fused, and joined to Him. Nothing will ever separate us from Him and His love for us.

For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord (Romans 8:38-39 NIV).

Remember that life is like a railroad. There are two tracks. On one track, there is always something good going on in our life. On the other track, not so good. There will always be something with which we are struggling.

Life is not a mountaintop or a valley in which we are either up or down. Life is more like ‘both/and’ rather that ‘either/or.’ The key to abundant life is to enjoy life one minute at a time. Be thankful for the blessings, and know that the ‘not so good’ came to pass. It did not come to stay.

Gratitude determines your altitude. Being thankful is the fast track to abundant living in Jesus.

I am so thankful for you. So is Papa.

Blessings,

Kenny
