There is not a single event in our life—good, bad, or ugly—that we are better off without. Why? Because everything in life can teach us a lesson. We just have to be willing to learn. Everyone comes into our life for a reason: some good, some bad. They shape us, form us, and sometimes break us. But in the end, they make us who we are. When we realize that everyone around us is a teacher, we begin to see our mission as learning from all who cross our path. Every person we meet has a story to tell, a lesson to teach, and a dream to share.
It’s easy to say “thank you” for the good things that come into our lives. Yet, the hardest work I’ve ever done is to be thankful for everything. There is always something to be grateful for. Develop an attitude of gratitude, because everything in our life was placed there to prepare us to let God love us.
Each day is a new beginning, so treat it that way. Stay away from what might have been and focus on what can be. Don’t cling to a mistake just because you spent a lot of time making it. The past should stay in the past—it can destroy the future. Live life for what tomorrow has to offer, not for what yesterday has taken away. What happened in our past did contribute to how we see life today. But that’s all. Our past, as it exists today, is nothing more than the thoughts we have about it. Our journey will be much lighter and easier if we don’t carry our past with us.
