Life Is Like Riding a Roller Coaster
Drink from the full cup of life. Taste the bitter along with the sweet, knowing that all of it deepens your experience. Life is like riding a roller coaster you’ve never ridden before—full of surprising twists, turns, climbs, falls, and loops. You’ll face ups and downs, unexpected drops and sharp curves. It’s exciting, exhilarating, and sometimes terrifying. But to fully enjoy the ride, you must trust that you won’t fly off the tracks, believe that you’ll arrive safely, and have faith that the Architect of the ride designed it for your ultimate joy, not your punishment. So buckle your emotional and spiritual seatbelt—and hold on!
Everything about how you live your life is an expression of how much you love being alive. Forgive yourself for not knowing what you didn’t know before you learned it. I’m beginning to suspect that the second half of life is about letting go of everything I collected in the first half that wasn’t truly loving or human. Don’t make life about stuff. The most beautiful things in life aren’t things—they’re people, places, memories, pictures, feelings, moments, smiles, and laughter.
No one is going to stand up at your funeral and say, “They had a really expensive couch and great shoes.” Is what you’re worrying about right now really going to matter in eternity? One day, we’ll look back and realize we worried far too much about things that didn’t really matter.
